Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know everything,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

Waste My Time

Come waste my time
Come play with me
Come hold me close
But don't you mind

But don't you mind
If later I leave
to wander back
on my own time

           I've got all day
           so come and play
           Come waste my time

Come stir my fire
Come waste my time
Come hold me close
But don't you mind

If I let go
reheat the flames
on my own time

           I've got all day
           to waste away
           Come waste my time

Come fan my fire
Come waste my time
Go easily
Fuel my desire

And don't you mind
if we catch fire
Come waste
    come waste
           my time

           Come play with me
           Come play with fire
           Come waste
                     come waste
                             my time

And don't you mind
if we catch fire
if I pull you close
closer to me

Come play   come play
Come tease    come laugh
Come waste my time

           I've got all day
           to waste away
           Come waste my time

Come play with me
Come play with fire
I've got all day
to waste our time

Breakfast Burrito

the fire that is your love

the cold dark night is upon us
the air outside brings a chill to my soul
as i think of the days that lay before us
i sometimes cannot bare the weight of things
in those moments when fear seems to overwhelm me
i am comforted by the fire that is your love

in the sleeplessness of night
i listen to you breath
and feel it pull me back
the warmth of your love surrounds me
i know i am safe
i know i am accepted for who i am
but this is just the beginning
in those moments when i am filled with doubt
i am comforted by the fire that is your love

in the morning light of the day
as the due melts upon my window
i look upon the future in excitement
for the nights spent with your arms around me
fill me with joy and belonging
in those moments when life starts to roller coaster
i am comforted by the fire that is your love

Teen Gamer

He sits in his bedroom,
Eyes focused on the screen.
Hands tight on the controller,
Today's typical teen.

Shoots an innocent pedestrian,
Then uses a machete to make sure.
The vibrations of the controller
Are the only feeling he has to endure.

Out of the lift in an airport,
Mowing people down like grass.
A kill streak of fifty is an achievement,
Awarded with a cyber trophy of brass.

He punches the air and thinks to himself,
Maybe I should go and actually do that.
Then quickly whips out an AK47
And makes twenty people go splat.

This is the image the world knows,
What is believed of people who game.
The negative press is rife
Games taking a lot of blame.

A teenage boy shoots his friend,
Yes, he played Grand Theft Auto.
But was that the real reason,
Did that make a difference, though?

If I were you I would take a closer
Look at his mind.
There had to be something wrong with his head
I think you will find.

What about the games that are beautiful?
Exploring the lush paintings of Braid.
Or investigating renaissance Italy
As a free-runner in Assassins Creed.

Some games are just plain fun,
Mario Kart with friends.
And if you lose why not endure
A party in the dunes on FFXI to make amends.

I know many who are gamers,
We don't kill and are not inspired
To carry out the things we do on games.
From where have these views transpired?

People who have nothing better to do
That to pick on the tiniest detail of a story.
Then shoot down the whole gaming world
And revel in their own glory.

Gaming is a form of entertainment
Just like movies and television.
It just media spite and lies
That has caused this division.

You wouldn't come out of the cinema
And find yourself trying to murder.
Some of these politicians are chatting rubbish,
Their views growing ever absurder.

So instead of believing what you read
Play a game yourself.
You might find yourself enjoying it,
And not leaving it on the shelf.
